It's amazing that even though I am a half a word away from this, the Virginia Tech shooting still sends chills down my back and makes me uneasy.

I suppose you've heard by now that the shooter was a Resident Alien from South Korea. The SK government has issued apologies and hopes against any racial retaliation.
Yes. It's interesting because although he is Korean and from Korea, he has lived in the States for the last 15 years. I'm not quite sure how this is playing out here since I cannot read the news.
These things happen both ways, as there have been some American vs. Korean incidents here in the past few years.
